Passing of Rabbi Herschel Scheiner

R’ Herschel Scheiner, a long-time resident of Crown Heights who was involved in chesed work for families in need, passed away on Sunday, 4 Nissan 5780.

He worked for many years at the offices of Tzivos Hashem, the international Jewish youth organization headquartered in Crown Heights, and lent a caring hand to help provide food for individuals and families in need as part of his wife’s Yomtov Fund.

He is survived by his wife Mrs. Devorah Scheiner, their children Mrs. Faigy Brafman – Crown Heights; Mrs. Zippy Furst – Five Towns, NY; R’ Shuey Scheiner – Crown Heights; and Mrs. Chani Lazaroff – Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

We regret to inform you of the passing of Hershel Scheiner, A”H, father of DRS Parent Tzippy Furst, and Grandfather of Mendy (DRS ’21). Tzippy will be sitting shiva from this afternoon, Monday, March 30 through Sunday morning, April 5th. In keeping with the community health protocols put in place, the shiva will be private.
