My daughter says I write about food a lot. Is that any surprise to you? After all, we eat a lot!!! We also think about food a lot. And talk about food a lot. In fact, it seems the only time we’re not talking about eating is when we’re talking about -‘not eating’!! You…

The Way You Make Your Bed is The Way You Sleep In It!
I guess it would be smart to walk in to our guest room once in a while and lie down on the bed and think, could I actually sleep in here? Have I at least tried to make it the best accommodation that I can? I know I can’t meet every adult’s requirements, but can I step it up a bit. Add a variety of pillows. Buy newer, softer, fresher bedding. Make sure the blinds work -not every neighbor needs to know that my guest is getting dressed!
Are You a Pretzel?
A complete stranger is practically lying in my lap. My feet are suspended over his or her head. After all, where else am I going to put them? I’ve got earplugs in my ears, an eye mask over my eyes and yet sleep completely alludes me. I call out, “anyone have a Xanax”? About 55…
Dispair and Hope in Israel
Hanukkah reminds us that we have the power to repel the darkness with light. Feel the darkness surround me. We are tired of the cruel murders; the savage shootings, the car ramming’s and barbaric stabbings. As I write, the funeral of Ezra Schwartz is coming to its final moments. I pray that by the time…

The Wildest Things
Rivki D. Rosenwald Esq., CLC, SDS They say “kids say the wildest things”, or “out of the mouth of babes”! Because they often say and express, out loud, what we only think! It’s both embarrassing and refreshing! They might say out loud “Why is she wearing that dress? It’s so ugly!” My sister once said…
Getting Back to Routine
A woman approached me after a recent parenting lecture. “I own three houses but I don’t have any place that I can really call home. My family is filled with unhappiness and it’s miserable spending time together.”Without joy, even the most beautiful surroundings feel dark. How can we help build an atmosphere of happiness in…
Barricaded In or Out?
Does anyone go to the library anymore? I did! I needed a quiet area to do some work. The big problem is there’s always someone whispering right near you. Did you ever notice that? And in most cases it’s the librarian. So I decided to go to the quiet room. Well guess what, they took…
