Passing of Hy Shapiro

We regret to inform you of the passing of Rabbi Dr. Chaim (Hyman) Shapiro a”h, husband of Rebbetzin Sheila Shapiro, father of HALB graduates Elliot Shapiro (HALB ’69), Alan Shapiro (HALB ’71), Neil Shapiro  (HALB ’77) and Shuey Shapiro (HALB ’80), father-in-law of Lev Chana Morah Sheila Shapiro and grandfather of Aryeh Shapiro (DRS ’02), Tzvi Shapiro (DRS ’04),Meira Shapiro (SKA ’07), and Lauren Shapiro Gormley (SKA ’08). Rabbi Shapiro was the first Executive Director of HALB, a director of Avnet and the Rabbi Emeritus of Congregation Torah Ohr in Boca Raton Century Village. The funeral will take place in Florida on Sunday, March 3 at 11:30am at Congregation Torah Ohr, 19146 Lyons Road in Boca Raton, Florida. Kevurah will take place in Israel at Eretz HaChaim in Bet Shemesh. Shiva will be observed, beginning Tuesday, March 5, at 132 Lakeside Dr. East in Lawrence until Friday afternoon, March 8.
