It is with profound sadness that I share the news of the passing of Liana Brown, beloved mother of NYS Assemblyman and Cedarhurst Trustee Ari Brown, and Mark Brown. She passed away peacefully in Israel, surrounded by her three sons.
Lianna will be laid to rest in Israel, at the Beit Shemesh Misrad Hapnim, Cemetery, 1 Abba Namat, Beit Medrash this evening, 6/19 – time to follow.
Shiva will be held in Israel at 51/4 Rechov Dolev, Ramat Beit Shemesh, Israel.
Years ago, I attended Rebbetzin Tehila Yager’s shiur in Young Israel of Lawrence Cedarhurst.
There was a vibrant woman who attended and always asked Rebbetzin Yaeger the most fabulous
questions, insightful and quite brilliant. I knew I wanted her to give a shiur for my yom iyun, and the women
drank in her words of Torah. We became friends and I learned how much like Rabbi Akiva she was, at a time when there were few women’s shiurim, she had a set learning time with Rabbi Poupko in Israel.
She was lively, and vibrant and funny and had a joie de vivre which was contagious. She was humble and she was a righteous woman in her middot bein adam l’chavero, and klal yisrael has lost a great leader in Israel. May she be a great maylitz yosher for her family and all klal yisrael with the imperative to bring moshiach speedily in our days.
